Taken from the concept that Microsoft Dynamics GP is essentially an accounting package and the problem with all accounting packages is that they require the right data to be uploaded in the beginning Advanced Account Control (ACC) has been developed with the goal of eliminating potential problems before they arise.
There are several ways in which problems occur when a company is faced with a large chart of accounts; one common problem is that often incorrect reports are created due to the inclusion of invalid account combinations. This can be solved by automatic GL account creation based on user defined rules, an obvious solution, however, the practicality until now has been beyond most super users and even most developers, AAC has solved it and created a rules based procedure which is designed around ease of use and understanding allowing even the occasional user to ensure no mistakes.
Other common problems are based mainly on the amount of accounts and data, often from several sources, and not all of them complete, so it is usual to find that once implemented, GP users spend a lot of time scrolling through long lists of GL numbers. As well as adding to the time spent on implementation by manually setting up hundreds of separate accounts, it is also likely that there will be a large amount of corruption to the chart of accounts when adding divisions, product lines or making other changes.
ACC eradicates these issues by offering the ability to have a fast account lookup by segment with wildcard searches by description so removes the need to learn GP numbers and to actually search for what information is generally unique to that organisation. The user also has the option to have easy maintenance by maintaining main accounts and account segments independently, as well as on-screen account error flags to help ensure compliance.
The most notable advance though is the addition of a preview function, the Mass Create function in GP does not allow for this, however, ACC has it at the core of the add-on, allowing you to preview changes you have made and delete mistakes and more. This is a simple but effective tool that has been missing for too long in the standard Mass Create function of GP, but is now solved by ACC, to the benefit of every Financial Director and Accountant who uses GP.
