What was your first job in Microsoft Dynamics?
My first job in Microsoft Dynamics NAV was right out of college. I was very eager to prove myself as a valuable asset to any company that would hire me. As fate would have it, only one company offered me a job and they were just beginning to sell Navision. The company was small, between 5-8 people at any given time. Although the company was small, it was run very efficiently. Essentially, new hires were let go within 1-2 months if they couldn't do the job. During my 3 years working there, I must've seen at least 10 people come and go. The fact that I was able to "make it" gave me a huge confidence (and ego) boost. Ultimately, the ego part would be my downfall.
Who has been your biggest influence/s in Microsoft Dynamics?
There's not one person I can pinpoint. It's everyone I had the pleasure to associate with as student, colleague, customers, etc. Microsoft Dynamics is just software. Software is only written to do certain functions it's the life experiences you learn as a person that will influence how you translate the software into something that people can use to better their lives.
What has been your biggest achievement/s in Microsoft Dynamics?
My biggest achievement is to have the opportunity to start AP Commerce. I am allowed to help customers and not have worry just about the bottom line. It bothers me at great deal when I see worker frustrations within a company and I couldn't help them because of the client "wasn't profitable for the company". It gives me a great deal of joy to be able to help the people in the company to better perform their jobs without the frustration even when I don't make a single dime. Having a family of my own, I know what it's like to not be able to go home and spend time with your family because of unfinished work; In addition if we can eliminate or significantly reduce work time stress and overtime, I believe the world would be a better place.
What is the best thing Microsoft has brought to the community?
Definitely blogging and contributing to site such as www.mibuso.com and dynamicsusers.net. By contributing to the user community, Microsoft really shows that they care for the people they're making the products to. By starting Microsoft Connect, it allows the end users to suggest future product features to be considered in the next versions. I believe listening and actively being a part of the community will help Microsoft make software for the users, not just for programmers who think they're users.
Why would you recommend an end user to purchase Microsoft Dynamics?
I would only recommend customers to purchase Microsoft Dynamics NAV and I would not recommend anything else. Microsoft Dynamics NAV is THE best ERP solution for the mid market. It's highly customizable, user friendly, scalable, adaptable, etc etc. According to Microsoft, Microsoft Dynamics NAV has 1,350,000+ users and 76,000+ implementations worldwide. No other mid market ERP software comes close!
What are the biggest challenges facing Microsoft Dynamics in the ERP market today?
The branding of Microsoft Dynamics leaves more to be desired, with AX, NAV, GP, SL, CRM, etc built on entirely different platforms with different functionalities that does similar things.
What do you want to see happen with Microsoft Dynamics in the future?
I would like them to focus on Dynamics NAV for the small and the mid-market, and Dynamics AX for the upper market. Consolidate or merge other Dynamics products into NAV and AX.
