“I think that people should encourage a sustainable economic change, environmentally friendly and respectful towards ourselves. Society will have to reject those companies that do not apply to a minimum of social responsibility requirements. To make it possible, technologies will play a fundamental role in terms of resource optimization, energy efficiency and respect to human beings”
Josep a MVP in NAV since 2006 lives in Granollers, close to Barcelona, and is married with four children. He has a fondness for business procedures and technology in general terms, but is specifically enthusiastic about Dynamics NAV and is fascinated most with technology that aims to make companies more efficient and more ecologic.
In 2006 he created Dynamica which for the last 2 years has received the award of best partner in its category.
What was your first job in Microsoft Dynamics?
It was in 1999, in an international industrial group. My role was to select and manage the implementation of an ERP, after a testing process, we chose Navision. The choice proved to be satisfactory as it is still working. That job gave me the opportunity to have a deep knowledge of this ERP. From that moment on, I decided to work hard on this product.
Who has been your biggest influence/s in Microsoft Dynamics?
Many friends and workmates have. The ones I learn from daily about “Dynamics life”. In particular I would like to mention Alejandro Pradas, who is the founder of Navision in Spain, and I consider myself lucky to be among his friends.
What has been your biggest achievement/s in Microsoft Dynamics?
Since 2006 until now, one of the greatest achievements and honours I have experienced was to receive the award of Most Valuable Professional (MVP) in Dynamics NAV from Microsoft. Nevertheless, in the professional field, I also have enormous satisfaction to be implementing Dynamics NAV in a major Medical Corporation in Spain.
I am also proud of the creation of Tips dBits website in 2003, a community in Spanish for Dynamics NAV where blogs, downloads, forums, etc. can be found. From that site I contribute to spreading knowledge about this ERP and related technologies.
What is the best thing Microsoft has brought to the community?
In an environment where users and professionals who are not Microsoft employees, are able to give their opinion about its products, it would be a disaster to create a shift in opinion against that, Microsoft is aware of the importance of the community and so, supports it, encourages it and listens to it.
Why should an end user purchase Microsoft Dynamics?
Millions of users all over the world and tens of thousands of organisations cannot be wrong. It is the only way to weigh up the success of a software. Microsoft offers a complete product roadmap, has innovation capability and maintains its commitment to its partners and endusers. Finally, it boasts a full prevention and disciplinary support related to any faults or legislative modifications.
What are the biggest challenges facing Microsoft Dynamics in the ERP market today?
One of the challenges to face is the one referred to as “Software as a Service” (SaaS). Customers do not wish nor they need to know what business solution fits the best for their company (NAV, AX, GP, etc.) they really wish to use the better of each one and occasionally, some components from third parties. Microsoft will have to supply this technology and with the aim of making it clear and transparent to customers its partners will play an important role. Another challenge to face is “Cloud computing”, that’s to say, to allow the user, wherever he is, to connect his equipment and to let him work immediately, however, to reach that point, the development of telecommunications becomes the key.
What do you want to see happen with Microsoft Dynamics in the future?
Dynamics NAV 2009 made a great change by focusing the procedures to the roles. This fact allows people to concentrate on their job within a participating environment. In the future, I think that ERPs will have to be nearer to the BPMs. I mean that they stop being tools of close structures from the process point of view and become less structured tools and much more open to what implies that any change in a process or business rule can be planned and performed naturally. This new philosophy will make current tasks performed by a process that shows the results in a ledger such as a spreadsheet, will be replaced with interactive and visual graphic elements. Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1 already comprises some changes in this sense and in future versions they will be pretty categorical.
