It has been developed to give a unique Quality Assurance module that is fully integrated AX's modules of trade, logistics and production. It is designed so that a registration in MW-QA can result in a workflow in MW-WFL, and can use instructions from a QA-handbook which is in turn stored in MW-ADM. This does seem to be the use of a number of different add-ons working together and does have the feel of an add-on that has been built from a simple idea into what is now a complex series of developments; however it is not that complex once the development is designed and is involved in the working development.

 

The add-on works by adding a series of control cards, it is developed by the creation of a Control Card, which consists of one or more control codes (which has to be registered). A control code can be type Limit (minimum, standard and maximum values), Controls (OK or Error), or it could be signature, date, time, temperature and so on. For each control code, you can setup OK- and Error-actions, and the action with lowest priority is the one set on the control card. A Control Card can be accessed manually or automatically from almost anywhere in Dynamics AX; receipt of purchase, creation or start of production, job registration, finishing production, delivering of sales order and so on.

 

In the complaint system, complaints from both vendors and customers can be handled, and also from here you can create a related workflow, making sure that somebody takes action on the complaint.

 

Control cards can be setup as standard, and accordingly be connected to one or more items. Control cards can be either of the "checklist" type or it can be set up as minimum and maximum values for specific measurements. Values can freely be set up as values or checkmarks or a combination. There is also the possibility of creating ad hoc control cards without predefined content. Control cards can in turn be connected to guide lines, and you can set up standard actions in case of deviations. Control cards can be limited to be active only in accordance with certain processes.

 

Without doing any Business Intelligence this add-on offers the opportunity for the end user to develop a structured performance and analysis which can be based on the detailed measurement results and registrations that are available by following the tracing items, productions and so on, both in specific values, as well as in relation to time and other parameters. It is a new method in which to develop a distinct way to evolve reports and, once the management have the reports, in which way they can be analysed.

 

It really is an add-on that will make a vast impact on how Dynamics AX is used by end users and how it is possible to develop a more tier 1 style analysis than has been previously been available.
