From Sandes, Norway is ProfitBase
ProfitBase's was founded in 2000 and based in Sandnes, Norway, it has produced solutions which leverage the power of Microsoft SQL Server 2005
and Analysis Services to deliver performance information to scorecard, dashboard and reporting systems providing decision makers with a single consolidated view of the information they need to quickly analyse their performance and make better, faster decisions.
It is able to run its prebuilt business cubes for Finance and Sales and Data Source Connectors for Microsoft Dynamics GP, NAV and AX, the thought process behind this is that Profitbase is able to ensure that its solutions can be installed and run significantly easier and much faster than would be anticipated.
Using BI as the starting point for Business Performance Management it has removed the cumbersome and costly installs that litter this end of the market. Profitbase have also sought to bring about a standardisation to their own functionality which is very easy for the user to configure and allows for any of the elements that need to be modified to be done so without the need to modify the entire solution.
One of the most impressive solutions is the provision of a standard set of OLAP Cube Measure Groups, these can be used in any of the departments where reporting of finance, sales, or marketing is of interest.
Based on a solution that was intended to work with both the core components of SQL Server 2005 and PerformancePoint Server to extract, business data, the solution has now been developed to not need PPS, but to still make use of any existing PPS data warehousing the user may have.
This enables the user not to have to start again but to build on the many systems that they may already have and to create an enhanced BI solution that is unique to them.
ProfitBase has its formation in the retail industry and as such it does take many of its metrics and KPI’s from this industry for deploying OLAP cubes. This however can be overcome by the simplification of a users own OLAP cubes and ensuring that the configuration of the data warehousing is correct before installation of Profitbase.
Who should use Profitbase?
With a tailor-made service already for the retail industry and with a grounding that is second to none in this space anyone within the retail sector should be looking at Profitbase first. It is not however just a simple narrow vertical solution, with elements based around the defunct PPS it is also for those with a knowledge or understanding of PPS and it allows for a final ROI on the that solution for end users.
